Fun Windsor and Maidenhead event for all the family
Windsor and Maidenhead Fun and learning will go hand in hand at the new Woodlands Park Village Centre from 10am to noon on Saturday October 13 at an activities morning for all the family to mark national Family Learning Week.
The event has been organised by the Royal Windsor and Maidenhead Borough's family learning team. Highlights will be visits from Basil the Shetland pony and his rabbit, goat and guinea pig friends and 'bug man' Matt Smith who will bring along giant beetles, giant millipedes, praying mantises and many other creepy crawlies.
There will also be arts and crafts activities – including personalised room door hangers, puppet and mask making, a storyteller, who will be telling magical tales, and physical activities from the borough's Get Active programme.
Representatives of the Royal Windsor and Maidenhead Borough's Children's Information Service will have display stands about the many services available to families and parents, and professionals will be offering health, fitness and nutrition advice to families.
Cllr Leo Walters, Mayor of the Royal Borough, will be attending the event with Mayoress Mrs Margot Walters.
Cllr Eileen Quick, lead member for Windsor and Maidenhead children's services, said: "This activity morning is going to be a great event for families to learn and play together. All the community is invited and we are hoping as many people as possible are going to take part in this enjoyable event where they can also get help and advice from professionals."
The event is free and booking is not required.
A similar session will be held on Saturday October 20 at Clewer Youth and Community Centre in Parsonage Lane, Windsor.
