Arty events will be a Big Windsor and Maidenhead Draw for all the family
Throughout October, Windsor and Maidenhead libraries are once again celebrating the Big Draw, a national initiative designed to encourage everyone to enjoy the simple pleasures of drawing.
The drawing begins on Saturday October 13 at the borough's two main libraries:
· Maidenhead Library, St Ives Road – from 10am to 4pm the whole family is invited to a 'drop in and draw' session where they will be joined by celebrity Timmy Mallet and the Clewer Leisure Painters. Novice artists will get help and inspiration from the experts, as well as ideas from four poems which have been specially selected for the event.
· Windsor Library, Bachelors Acre – from 10am to 3pm residents can have a go at creating a work of art using the same poems as their inspiration.
There will also be drawing events during half term (October 22 to 26) where children can simply turn up, draw, colour, create and have fun! These free sessions are on Wednesday October 24 from 10.30am to 12noon at Cox Green Library and on Thursday October 25 from 2pm to 4pm at Maidenhead Library.
Cllr Eileen Quick, lead member for Windsor and Maidenhead children's services, said: "The aim of the Big Draw is to get everyone drawing – turning a private passion into a public one which all the family can enjoy. This is the eighth year this popular national event has been running and we are sure this year will be bigger and better than ever."
