Discover Foods for Free in Maidenhead Nature's Own Larder
The British landscape has long been a bountiful source of free healthy foods and medicines, from dandelion salad and elderflower cordial to nettle tea – a great detoxifier – and willow bark with its painkilling abilities.
Many of these plants are still available today and the Maidenhead countryside remains an excellent place to forage for those who know what they are looking for.
Royal Borough countryside rangers have organised a Foods for Free! wild food walk in Braywick Park, Maidenhead, to explore which of our commoner plants can be eaten or used for medicinal purposes.
The walk takes place on Sunday May 6 from 2 – 4pm, starting from Braywick Nature Centre in Hibbert Road.
The cost is £3.60 per person with an Advantage Card. For non-Advantage Card holders there will be a daily entry fee of 80p for adults and 60p for children.
Places must be booked in advance; to book or for further enquiries call 01628 796227.
