Chips on the Menu for Maidenhead Advantage Card Parkers

A solution is on the cards for Maidenhead residents who have had difficulties using their magnetic stripe Advantage Cards in borough car parks.

The Maidenhead Royal Borough has introduced chip cards to replace the magnetic stripe Advantage Cards and has invited cardholders who have had trouble getting their resident discounts in local car parks to exchange their magnetic stripe cards for a chip card at any local issuing centre – the Town Hall and the Magnet Leisure Centre in Maidenhead, Windsor Leisure Centre and York House customer service centre in Windsor and Charters Leisure Centre in Ascot.

David Scott, head of Maidenhead community services, said: “We have taken on board the concerns of our residents who have had difficulties using their Advantage cards in borough car parks. The new chip cards should make it easier for residents to get their discounts.”

Parking discounts are available to Advantage cardholders in the following car parks:

· Maidenhead: Grove Road, West Street and the Town Hall (after 5pm and at weekends)
· Datchet: Horton Road, The Avenue and on-street parking machines
· Windsor and Eton: Alma Road, Alexandra Gardens, King Edward VII, River Street, Romney Lock, Victoria Street, Windsor Library and York House (after 5pm and at weekends) and all on-street parking machines in Windsor and Eton.

Residents who have not yet collected a replacement card are invited in the meantime to display their Advantage Card alongside their parking voucher with the relevant fee.

Advantage is the Maidenhead Royal Borough residents’ card giving discounts at leisure centres, tourist attractions and more than 100 local businesses in the area. Visit www.rbwm.gov.uk/web/advantage_index.htm or call 01628 796252 for further information.
