Before going to to play at The Salvation Army's annual Gospel Arts Concert in The Royal Albert Hall, London, on Saturday 31 May, commencing at 6.30 pm. Brass of Praise (BoP) is the national Salvation Army band of Switzerland. In the statutes of the 1970’s, they were once described as an “evangelic raiding patrol”! The band has never been stuck in tradition. Originality and innovation within the brass band music scene has always been seen as a new and exciting challenge. It’s not so surprising that its thirty musicians are its driving force. BoP is committed to linking musical trends from today to the original understanding of music as described in the Bible – praising God and expressing joy Maidenhead Care ~ Good Neighbour Scheme We visit lonely and housebound people and provide a ‘sit with’ service to relieve carers. The cost of any telephone calls made If anyone has some time to give, say just one day a month, as a Duty Officer, please contact Maidenhead Care on 01628 434567. Thank you and God bless you. Wine into Water with the Maidenhead Salvation Army It is very sad to think that young Maidenhead people feel they need to go out and get drunk every weekend when there is so much more to life, and do not know what they are doing to themselves and others. They need help to understand that it is possible to get off the cycle of getting drunk, sobering up and getting drunk again; that there is a better way of life and a safer way of life, and the Lord has told us that we are the one's to help them with a project we are calling "Wine into Water" and our email address for enquiries is wineintowater@sky.com It is a very simple project and just involves standing in Maidenhead town and giving out bottles of water and bags of crisps to those who are the worse for drink; just offering them something to try and dilute and soak up the excess alcohol in their bodies; and offering them someone to talk to, if needed, without being judged; someone to show them that there is a better life out there if only they want to reach out and grasp it. In the first place we are going to go out once a fortnight, although if there are enough supporters then obviously we would like to go more often. We envisage standing from about 11 o'clock through to 1'oclock in the morning on alternate Friday and Saturday evenings biweekly to start. We have the full backing of the council and local police and they will be supporting us and helping with any trouble that may come our way.
